Work Readiness Programme

Building the Four Critical Literacies for Workforce Readiness.

In today’s rapidly evolving labour market, sustainable employability depends on more than just technical skills. Organisations need talent equipped with foundational literacies that empower individuals to learn, adapt, and perform confidently on the job.

At Cinergia, we focus on developing four critical types of literacy that impact employability and workforce readiness:

Digital Literacy:

Navigating technology and digital platforms effectively

What is digital literacy? It is the ability to navigate the digital world using reading, writing, technical skills, and critical thinking. It includes the effective use of technology — such as smartphones, computers, and digital tools — to find, evaluate, and communicate information.

Language Literacy:

Communicating clearly through written and spoken language

What is Language Literacy? Language or foundational literacy is the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, and compute using written and printed materials. It forms the basis for all learning and personal development, enabling individuals to achieve their goals, expand their knowledge and potential, and participate fully in their communities and wider society. This foundational skill is essential for functioning effectively across personal, professional, and social contexts.

Numerical Literacy:

Applying basic math skills in everyday and workplace contexts

What is Numerical Literacy? Numerical literacy, also known as numeracy, is the ability to work with numbers and perform basic calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It involves understanding and applying mathematical concepts in everyday contexts — including measurements, graphs, tables, formulas, and diagrams. As defined by UNESCO, numerical literacy encompasses the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage and respond to mathematical demands posed by diverse situations involving numbers, symbols, visual data, and text.

Financial Literacy:

Managing money, budgeting, and understanding financial concepts

What is Financial Literacy? Financial literacy is the confident understanding of key financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. It enables individuals to make informed financial decisions that contribute to personal well-being, financial stability, and greater self-trust, while also supporting responsibility and resilience in the workplace.
